Live Edge Oregon Myrtle Vase (4" x 4.5")
A Piece of the Pacific Northwest: Oregon Myrtle Hollow Form
Living here in the Northwest, Oregon Myrtle (or Bay Laurel) is a special tree. You might know it for the spicy smell of its leaves, but the wood itself is just as wonderful—smooth, dense, and full of character. I turned this small vase to highlight the lighter, creamy tones of the wood against the dark, natural bark.

My Process & The Wood:
The Live Edge: I love keeping the "live edge" on pieces like this. That dark, rugged rim is the actual surface of the tree, creating a natural window into the smooth, hollowed interior. It reminds you that this object came from a living forest.
Cross-Grain Turning: I turned this piece "cross-grain," which allows the grain patterns to wrap around the shape in a specific way, giving the wood a subtle shimmer when the light hits it.
The Form: This is a classic hollow form shape—bulbous at the top and tapering down to the foot. It stands 4.5 inches tall, making it a lovely standalone art piece for a shelf or a desk.
📝 Product Details
Size: This vase stands 4.5 inches tall and is 4 inches in diameter at its widest point.
Material: Solid Oregon Myrtlewood (Bay Laurel).
Style: Live Edge Hollow Form / Decorative Vase.
Finish: I finished this piece with a blend of Tung Oil and Orange Oil, which protects the wood and gives it a soft, satin feel without feeling "plastic."
This is a genuine piece of our local landscape, turned by hand to bring a little bit of the outdoors inside.
